Waunakee man accused of driving while intoxicated, crashing into car
SPRINGFIELD, Wis. (WMTV) - A Waunakee man is accused of crashing into a car while he was intoxicated Sunday afternoon in Dane County.
The 44-year-old Mercedes driver was heading eastbound on Highway 19 when he drove into the other side of the road and collided with a Nissan Versa going westbound, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 3:45 p.m. to the crash, in the Town of Springfield, and reported a 63-year-old woman inside the Nissan had to be removed from it. An ambulance took the Sun Prairie resident to a hospital for serious injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office noted the 44-year-old Mercedes driver and his passenger were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The suspect faces charges of operating while intoxicated with a passenger under the age of 16 and second-degree reckless endangerment, as well as other citations. He is being held at the Dane County Jail.
