Reedsburg man dies in crash with semi truck, Sauk Co. Sheriff’s Office reports

A pickup truck driver died Monday after colliding with a semi-truck in Sauk County, authorities reported.

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A pickup truck driver died Monday after colliding with a semi-truck in Sauk County, authorities reported.

Bystanders took the driver out of the pickup truck and were trying to save his life when deputies arrived around 3 p.m. to State Highway 23 at Shady Lane, in the Township of Excelsior, according to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies determined a man, identified as 63-year-old Ronald Sersland, was driving a 2008 Ford Ranger on Highway 23 southbound when he crossed the centerline and collided with the semi-tractor trailer.

Sauk Co. Sheriff’s Office indicated Sersland, of Reedsburg, died at the scene from the injuries he suffered in the crash.

The semi-truck driver was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, according to officials.

The Sheriff’s Office noted UW Med-Flight, Reedsburg Fire Dept., Reedsburg Ambulance, Lake Delton Police Dept., Wisconsin State Patrol and the Sauk Co. Highway Dept. responded to the crash.
