$117K in grants awarded to support Dane Co. arts programs

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Dane County officials showed support toward the local art community as $117,000 in grants was awarded to different organizations on Thursday.
Officials noted that organizations requested over $359,000.
“The arts are an essential thread in the fabric of Dane County—connecting us, inspiring us, and celebrating who we are,” Dane County Executive Melissa Agard said. “These grants uplift creativity in every corner of our community and ensure that art remains accessible, vibrant, and a source of pride for all who call Dane County home.”
Dane Arts Director Fraire added that cultural arts are a part of the reason why people want to live in the county.
“The Arts here in Dane County help drive the economy and provide the benefits of beauty, goodness, and truth,” said Fraire.
The grants are funded by the county in conjunction with private donations from Diane Ballweg, the Endres Manufacturing Company Foundation and the Frautschi and Rowland Foundations.
This year, Dane County’s Dane Arts will give over $219,000 in funds to nonprofit organizations, schools, individuals among many other places.
