MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The American Family Insurance Championship wrapped up another run at TPC Wisconsin, with Darren Clarke and Ben Crane finishing the week as this year’s champions.

Tournament host Steve Stricker said the event’s 10th edition checked every box, from the golf to the atmosphere to the impact it continues to have off the course.

“It’s always special to be playing this event this week,” Stricker told WMTV. “TPC Wisconsin was great. Of course, it was in unbelievable shape. And the fans, the support people came out. volunteers, it was a great week, raising a lot of money again.”

That community support is part of what’s driven the tournament’s charitable success over the years. The event has now raised more than $22 million across its first 10 playings, with one year missed due to COVID.

“It’s shocking, isn’t it?” Stricker said. “The community has stepped up big time. The sponsors, American Family Insurance, you know I can’t say anything more about them and what they do in our community.”

Money that Stricker says ultimately goes right back into the community through the tournament’s charitable giving.

“They’re buying into what we’re doing and in turn we give it right back,” Stricker said. “Half of it goes to the Children’s Hospital, but [it also goes] to all the other local charities that look forward to our monies each and every year.”

Year 10 may be in the books, but with the community showing up again at TPC Wisconsin, Stricker says the tournament’s impact is only growing heading into year 11.
