15 Days to Blitz: Oregon Panthers hoping to make some noise
The Oregon Panthers hope to make some noise in the Badger Large this coming season.
Oregon, Wis. (WMTV) - We are getting dangerously close to the start of the Friday Football Blitz! This Friday, as we count down the days and the teams with our 15 Days until Blitz series, we head to Oregon where the Panthers are getting fired up for a big season.
The Panthers can’t wait to show what they have in the Badger Large this season. Head Coach Matt Weber and the gang finished last season with a 4-5 record—a rollercoaster year that saw them win their first two and last two games, sandwiching a tough five-game losing streak. But that was then, and this is now. The team is ready to get things rolling in 2026.
“Our biggest expectation is that we get better every day,” said Coach Weber. “When we talk about our team, we talk about taking pride in our attitude, our effort, and our team. And we want to focus on the little things because it’s not this special recipe, but rather taking those little incremental steps every day to get better.”
Defensively, the Panthers are looking to make their presence felt in their new conference.
“I’m really excited for our defense, and I think we’re going to show out,” said Will Carstensen, a senior outside linebacker. “I think I’m really excited to go against a lot of the great offenses in the Badger Large and kind of make a statement here, just for my senior year.”
Offensively and across the entire roster, the commitment has been building since the winter.
“So far, just practice, I’ve been seeing so much growth from this team,” said senior quarterback Gavin Lehman. “I mean, it started January, right as the season was ending up, and then we’re in the weight room. We got the whole team bought in, just as Will was saying. From practice right now, we just look great. Scrimmage looked great on Friday. I’m ready. I’m ready for the season, ready for whoever’s coming at us. I think we look great.”
The Panthers won’t have to wait long to test themselves. Oregon welcomes rival Stoughton to their home field this Friday in the highly anticipated season opener.
