MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The start of Wisconsin men’s basketball season is just around the corner, marked by an annual tradition and the official unveiling of the 2026-27 Big Ten schedule.

The Badgers wrapped up their fall workout slate with their traditional Bascom Hill run, conquering the iconic campus incline as a key milestone ahead of the season.

“Obviously there’s a time-honored tradition to it that dates well before our time here in Madison, but I think it’s evolved and grown in different ways, but it’s still kind of a rite of passage in the fall, so to speak,” Badgers head coach Greg Gard said. “So it comes with a lot of physical benefits and probably the mental component is as big as any that was started a long time ago. But we’re happy and it’s a non-negotiable for the fall. We are going to run the hill.”

Along with conquering the hill, Wisconsin now knows its full road map for the winter after the Big Ten released its complete 20-game conference slate on Wednesday. The Badgers will host 10 matchups at the Kohl Center.

Wisconsin tips off league play on the road Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Northwestern before returning home to host Purdue on Dec. 8. The Badgers will then wrap up their non-conference slate — highlighted by the Baha Mar Championship in The Bahamas and neutral-site tilts against Villanova in Philadelphia and Auburn in Nashville — before diving into the heart of Big Ten action.

The January calendar features key Kohl Center visits from Illinois (Jan. 2), Minnesota (Jan. 9), Penn State (Jan. 13), and Washington (Jan. 23), balanced by road trips to Iowa, USC, UCLA, Maryland, and Minnesota. February follows with marquee home clashes against Oregon (Feb. 3), Michigan (Feb. 6), Indiana (Feb. 19), and Iowa (Feb. 24), alongside road stops at Ohio State, Rutgers, and Illinois.

The Badgers conclude the regular season at home against Nebraska on March 3 before traveling to Michigan State for the finale on March 6. Postseason play begins with the 2027 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, set for March 9-14 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
