Dane County Salvation Army donations down
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Salvation Army of Dane County is asking for more donations to meet their goal before Christmas.
The organization said donations are down in Dane County this year, and they predict they will not make their $500,000 goal.
These donations support housing and emergency shelters for single women and families, emergency disaster services and after-school programs.
“The need for financial support is critical now more than ever as the number of guests staying nightly at the Single Women’s Shelter has reached record highs,” Area Coordinator Major Michael Sjogren said. “Nationally, 82 cents of every dollar donated goes directly toward funding Salvation Army initiatives, and the money stays here in Dane County.”
Those looking to volunteer to gather donations can visit the Salvation Army website.
Those wishing to help out can also support Angel Tree Adoptions, which provides gifts for those in need around the holidays.
