ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) - The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about recent scam phone calls within the county.

According to sheriff’s office, multiple fraudulent phone calls have been made to residents where the caller identifies themselves as a Rock County deputy. They have used different names of current deputies and supervisors.

The caller claims to need money to clear up a legal manner.

Authorities said the scammer has set up voicemail messages identifying themselves as Rock County officials, so when the person tries to return calls, they appear to be real.

Rock County officials say they will never call residents asking for money.

At this point, officials said they are not aware of any residents who have lost money to these scammers.

Authorities encourage anyone who has received these calls to contact Rock County Communications Center at 608-757-2244.
