MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - On this day, April 20, 1993, Wisconsin’s own New Glarus Brewing Company was founded.

The company was originally created by Deb Carey as a gift to her husband Daniel, who was an experienced brewer.

Daniel had been working in the industry since he was 20 years old.

New Glarus Brewing Company was originally founded in an abandoned warehouse with used brew pub equipment, but due to the company’s quick success, they have expanded several times and are now the 12th largest craft brewery in the United States.

They release more than 230,000 barrels of beer every year!

Though the company quickly became one of the biggest breweries in the country, they remain true to their Dairy State roots - their products are only sold in Wisconsin.
