MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Dozens gathered at the Black Business Hub in Madison to watch the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center.

Huddled around a big screen, attendees viewed performers including John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder and others, kick off the Chicago event. Former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama topped off the event with speeches.

The Center was years in the making and is dedicated to inspiring leadership, service and community engagement.

“President Obama being the first Black president and having a museum, that means a lot to us in this day and the generations to come,” said Black Business Hub Director Magugu Davis. “There will be a place where everyone can go to Chicago and have a look at all the history.”

The Obama Presidential Center officially opens to the public on Friday, which is Juneteenth.
