Crews are working to assess the damage in Belleville after a storm ripped through the north side of the village Wednesday night.

BELLEVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - Crews are working to assess the damage in Belleville after a storm ripped through the north side of the village Wednesday night.

No injuries were reported, but there is lots of property damage in the area where the storm ran through.

The extensive damage includes homes, buildings, lawn furniture, trees uprooted or split and a billboard banner on a roof.

Debris covered restricted areas of the village. Leaders of Belleville are asking the public avoid the area until it’s clear.

Iowa County Sheriff’s Office had reported Wednesday that it saw significant damage from Highland to south of Ridgeway and Barneveld. Buildings were damaged, wires were down and trees were toppled over.

During a press conference in Belleville, officials reported several people were displaced. Firefighters also responded to a gas leak.
