MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-2 tornado touched down in Crawford County on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse confirmed the tornado crossed nearly the entire length of Crawford County, from five miles northwest of Eastman to near Boscobel.

The tornado started in Allamakee County, Iowa before crossing the Mississippi River and heading into Crawford County.

The weather service said that damage along the tornado path was mostly EF-0 to EF-1 in magnitude. The tornado caused damage to trees, farm buildings and caused minor damage to homes.

A couple of miles north of Eastman along Highway 27, several snapped power poles gave the weather service evidence of winds reaching 115 mph, which is low-end EF-2 strength, the weather service announced.
